Nigerian burn units use the DAT
40 surgeons and nurses from more than 20 burn units across Nigeria recently attended an online presentation about using Interburns Delivery Assessment Tool (DAT) to self assess their service against standards. The DAT is the first step in Interburns comprehensive integrated approach towards quality improvement in burn care and can be accessed digitally through www.dat4burns.org.
Organised in collaboration with Dr Richard Nnabuko, consultant surgeon and Interburns board member, the presentation covered the theory behind the DAT and how it can help to measure, encourage and track change, as well as a practical guide to holding a focus group discussion and using the digital version of the DAT.
Both elements of the presentation are available as videos to view here: DAT - the theory. and DAT in practice.
Thanks to Richard Nnabuko for helping to organise the presentation and Sian Falder, Interburns Clinical Lead.
Thanks also to those who attended the session as well as to Interplast (Australia and New Zealand) for supporting us in building the digital version of the DAT.
