Want to publish your research?

While the majority of burns occur in LMIC's, there is very little published research on the issue from LMIC's. This gap must be filled to attract attention and funding, and ultimately improve the quality of care and prevention of burn injury.

A new Research Writing Course, freely available at https://learn.interburns.org/lms/, is aimed at clinicians from LMICs who would like to get their work published. Based on a Writing Workshop delivered live online by the Centre for Global Burn Injury Policy and Research (CGBIPR), Swansea University to surgeons from Nepal, Zambia, Rwanda, Nigeria and Ethiopia in April 2021, the course includes valuable insights from clinicians working in burns in LMICs.

The course includes video presentations on topics such as: presenting research for impact; structuring a paper; choosing the right journal; submission, and how to handle rejection. Along with selected resources to download, this course will help you plan, structure, research and present your research work for publication.

The course was led by Professor Patricia Price and we would like to thank the experts who gave their time to make this course a success: Dr Nikki Allorto, Dr Shobha Chamania, Dr Sian Falder, Dr Jim Gallagher, Dr Asad Latif, Dr Richard Nnabuko, Dr Laura Pompermaier, and Professor Steven Wolf.

We would also like to thank the surgeons who participated in the workshop and worked so well together in spite of the vast distances between us all - and over three consecutive weekends.
