Essential Burn Care (EBC) in Nepal

Congratulations to Interburns newly established Regional Hub for Asia based in Nepal for running a very successful Essential Burn Care (EBC) course in partnership with Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital (SKMH). 31 doctors, nurses, paramedics and therapists took part from 10 different hospitals.

Essential Burn Care (EBC) aims to engage and inspire doctors, nurses and therapists, and provide them with practical skills to treat patients with moderate-sized burns, and safely manage the early stages of patients with more severe injuries. During one intense day, sessions focus on a range of topics from assessing burn injuries, to calculating nutrition and fluids, infection prevention, and dressings.

The Regional Hub will spearhead wider dissemination of Interburns training at each level, initially in Madhya Pradesh, India in the coming weeks.

We would like to thank all those who took part in the training, as well as expert Interburns faculty led by surgeon, Rojina Shilpakar alongside surgeons - Kiran Nakarmi, Sandesh Maskey, Santosh Bhandari; nurses - Kalpana Sitaula and Shanta Mahara; and physiotherapist, Roshan Dangol supported by Anil Dhital, Interburns Training Manager, as well as SKMH faculty: Dietician, Anu Mourya; senior administrator Mamata Raj Singh and chief administrator, Prafulla Sharma.
