Training at Corsu Hospital in Uganda
In October, Tom Potokar and Opoku Ware Ampomah flew to Uganda to carry out training at CoRSU Hospital, Kampala, at the request of Andrew Hodges. The training was carried out over 5 days and included 16 surgeons, nurses and therapists from CoRSU, IHK and Mulago Hospitals. This short course focused on both acute burn injuries and reconstructive burn surgery, drawing on the curriculum of our Essential Burn Care (EBC) course, in addition to more advanced clinical skills and other key topics such as quality improvement, communications, motivation and leadership.
The training was very well received and two of the participants were motivated to undertake a fellowship with Dr Shobha Chamania at the Interburns Training Centre (ITC) in India in November.
